It's been a while

I've now been working at the post office for a week.  There is a lot of typing involved and tests.  I've never failed so many tests in my life :(.  But that's okay.  I'm learning pretty well, and should soon be on the floor actually keying mail.  Ha.  I work at the remote encoding center.  There are only 2 left in the entire nation.  The other one is in Wichita.  There are really good computer programs that read the mail and spray on bar codes so it can get sorted...but sometimes it doesn't know what to do, so it sends a picture to one of the remote encoding centers and an actual person looks at it and encodes it.  Exciting, no?

In other news...about a month ago I made a cool cake in celebration of Alice in Wonderland, which I saw last Friday.  It's very pretty.  And a little scary for younger children...but I liked it.  The Mad Hatter was absolutely mad--but that's okay, because the best and most interesting people are at least a little mad.  I wouldn't bother seeing it in 3D again, though--there's really not all that much that's like "wow" in the third dimension with this movie.  Anyway, here are pictures of my cake.

It was pumpkin.  And there were four layers.  I made it look all funky 'cause it's supposed to be the Mad Hatter's hat.  Obviously.  I tried making Alice and the Cheshire cat out of gum paste, but it wasn't setting...so I used frosting instead.  The stand is from our old microwave.  Worked pretty well.  I was lazy and painted Alice's hair black.  And didn't try very hard on the Red Queen.  But that's okay.  Cake is an edible medium, after all.

Erm...in other news, I've been using Proactiv for about a month now.  I like it.  I've still got some nasty scars on my cheek from some major zits, but my face is a lot clearer than it was.  Once I like my after picture I'll post before and after.

I've also applied to go to the U of U.  Not 'cause I want a Master's (one in English would basically mean I could teach at college), but I want another Bachelor's.  I want to learn Korean better than I currently know it.  And I think a degree in International Studies would be more useful than one in English.  I loved my classes, but finding a job is ridiculous with a B.A. in English.  So...yeah.  That's what's been happening in my corner of the world.
