Frightmares

It's been a while since I last updated on here.  Sorry 'bout that.  I find myself a lot busier now that I'm working and going to school.  The semester is halfway over, which is crazy.  I don't know where all the time has gone...  I'm enjoying school, though.  It's fun.  I don't have any particularly difficult classes this semester, which is nice.  I'm really enjoying my Korean class, even though it's pretty easy for me.  I'm learning a lot of vocab that's practical.

Last Friday, I decided it would be fun to take my lovely nieces to Lagoon for Frightmares as they didn't have school and I didn't either.  Unfortunately, Lydia was afraid to go, and jumped at the chance to spend time with her dad over the weekend.  Which was okay.  I'm glad she got to visit her dad and step-mother.  Tasha was planning on going with Adelle and I...and then her fridge died.  So, it ended up being just me and Adelle.  We had a lot of fun and had a very special day together.

Before going to Lagoon, we dropped by Tasha's house to play with her new puppy, Bella, and go and get lunch at Taco Bell (they have some new sauces that are very yummy).  Bella chased Adelle around, which was adorable, and Adelle chased Bella around.  Here's a quick video I snapped (sorry that I moved the camera around so much).

After eating with Tasha, Adelle and I realized we were really hot.  I had originally intended to take her to a hypnotist show at 7:00 at Lagoon.  Jeff and I went the previous day, and it was pretty good.  It was also really cold, and I didn't want her to freeze.  However, it was a beautiful day, and the sun was shining, so we went to Wal-mart and picked out some cheap short-sleeve shirts.  I think Adelle was glad we did this.

After the quick shopping trip, we went to the park.  Adelle decided she wanted to go on the Roller Coaster at Lagoon.  I don't particularly like it.  I don't like wood roller coasters, because I feel like they might fall apart, but since it was her special day (and I couldn't convince her to go on Wicked) we went on it.  I took my camera out of my pocket and snapped some pictures (though most didn't actually get her face).

This is us going up the hill.
This is us going down a hill.  I like how scared she looks.
She enjoyed it, and then we went to the Carousel.  It shut down before we could get on it, so she posed at a wooden cutout thingy.  They had them all over Lagoon for Frightmares.
After that, we went on the Spook a Boo trail.  I didn't take any pictures, but Adelle enjoyed meeting Alice and the Mad Hatter and a pirate.  Her favorite part was at the end--there was a pretty princess who asked everyone who her favorite princess is.  Adelle said Tiana.  We then went on a hay maze (which is very easy to not get lost on), and I snapped a picture of her by a flower.
Adelle wanted to pose at all of the cutout places, so here's another picture of her as a witch.
We made our way to the Wild Mouse.  She really likes that roller coaster.  I find it kinda painful because of how sharp the turns are...but I smuggled my camera out again.
Adelle in line (the lines were pretty bad, actually)

I love how much she looks like she's having fun.  This is on a curve at the top of the roller coaster.
We went on the train to see if there were any special decorations for Frightmare.  There weren't.  Mostly we just saw lethargic animals.  Adelle took pictures of the animals.  This is her picture of the lion.
Adelle is fascinated by the pioneer village at Lagoon, which is kinda like a museum of buildings and artifacts from the days of the Pioneers (which is an odd attraction at an amusement park).  We went through all of the buildings.  She told me that the LDS church only had six members to begin with because the chapel was so small.  She's so cute.  We went to the jail and I locked her up for a few moments even though she'd been on her best behavior.
Outside the gingerbread house, I snapped a picture of the two of us.
Adelle started getting hungry.  I said she could have anything in the park.  She picked a corndog.  We went to the place with corndogs and I ordered a meal and look how huge the corndog was!
Adelle couldn't finish all of it, so she gave the rest of me and went on a car ride all by herself nearby.
Finally it was time for us to get in line for a haunted house.  Adelle was very excited to prove how brave she is.  I snapped some pictures of her and then we got in line for Psycho Dave's Junkyard (the least scary of the haunted houses).

This is Adelle before we got in.  She was a little anxious because there were people with fake chainsaws that sounded very real walking around trying to scare people.
We went through the haunted house.  This is Adelle after.
She was very unsettled by some of the actors in their masks, and not even all of the actors had been there (Jeff and I went on it the previous day).  Since she was so scared, we decided it would be best to go home.  I said we could get ice cream and play the Xbox.  She agreed that would be a good idea.

I got one last picture of her after waiting in line behind a whole family who wanted to be torture victims hanging around Lagoon.

We went to my house after getting some ice cream and she made her own avatar for the Xbox and started playing Lego Harry Potter.  It was a really fun day, and I was sad that I had to say goodbye to her and take her home before getting ready to go to work.  She seemed a little disappointed that she hadn't done any Frightmares until I pointed out that the two things for children counted as part of Frightmares too, and that she had been very brave in going through the junkyard. She didn't scream or anything.  I hope she had as much fun as I did!
